Volunteer Board Member - Recruiting for September 2026

Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre’s Board of Directors is currently recruiting new board members with experience in HR, the Law, and Fundraising. Our board members offer expertise and experience from a variety of professional backgrounds and lived experience. Board Directors provide leadership on Salal's goals and governance as they are linked to Salal's mission, strategic plan, programs, fundraising goals, policies, operations and finances. Board members commit to a two-year term to start.

Responsibilities of the Member At Large:

• Commit to the mission and work of the organization
• Serve as knowledge centre in the areas of Fundraising, Lobbying and Government Relations, Anti-Oppressive Governance, Law, or HR.
• Honour the experience of survivors and all lived experiences
• Participates in creating a culture of safety
• Prepare for, attend and participate in monthly board meetings
• Support and attend special events
• Promote the organization in the community, including identifying prospective board members
• Support the organization financially
• Participate in the evaluation of the board itself
• Participate in the evaluation of the Executive Director

Qualifications:

• Professional and highly motivated team player.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous Board Experience as asset
• Lived experience aligning with the communities that Salal's serves

Salary: volunteer position - no compensation
