Role Description

This is a remote role for a Sinhalese OPI/VRI Interpreter at AsiaLocalize. The Interpreter will be responsible for providing accurate and culturally appropriate interpretation services during OPI/VRI sessions. They will ensure clear communication between parties and uphold confidentiality and professionalism throughout each session.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and clear interpretation of verbal communication between Sinhalese-speaking patients and healthcare providers.
    -Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to privacy standards such as HIPAA.
    -Accurately interpret complex medical terminology in both languages.
    -Facilitate communication and ensure understanding between healthcare professionals and patients, ensuring cultural sensitivity.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Sinhalese and English (both spoken and written) is required.
    -Proven experience in medical interpretation, certification in medical interpretation Is a MUST (e.g., CCHI, NBCMI).
    -Strong knowledge of medical terminology in both languages.
    -Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    -Ability to work in high-pressure situations and maintain professionalism.
    -Cultural competence and sensitivity when interacting with patients from diverse backgrounds.
    -Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with legal and ethical standards.
    -Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends (if necessary).

MUST have Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a medical interpreter or in a healthcare setting.
    -Certification or accreditation in medical interpretation.
