The role

Job description

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a highly experienced and independent Commercial Lawyer to support a senior sole practitioner based in Australia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Australian commercial law, with at least 5–10 years of post-qualification experience, and be confident in handling a range of transactional and advisory matters with minimal supervision.

You will work closely with a sole practitioner, providing hands-on support for legal drafting, contract preparation, and advisory matters across multiple practice areas. You will need to demonstrate high attention to detail, quality-driven output, and excellent time management skills to help ease the client's current workflow challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and advise on a wide range of commercial legal documents, including:
    • Shareholders’ agreements
    • Sale of business contracts
    • Lease agreements and reviews
    • Contractor agreements
  • Provide legal support for commercial transactions and real estate matters.
  • Assist with wills and estates documentation.
  • Manage workload autonomously and help streamline workflow for the client.
  • Deliver high-quality work that aligns with Australian legal standards and practice norms.

Requirements

  • Law degree and current legal practicing certification.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years' experience.
  • Prior experience working with or supporting senior lawyers or sole practitioners and familiarity with Australian law.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently handle legal drafting and contract preparation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong document drafting and legal analysis skills.
  • Comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision.
