About JerseySTEM
All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.
Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity [link removed] is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.
Overview
This is a pro-bono volunteer position.
JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.
In addition to Corporate and Individual donations, Grants are a potential large source of financial support for the JerseySTEM mission. As a member of the GrantResearch Team you'll be helping JerseySTEM to source grants and complete grant documents.
Responsibilities
- This role is responsible for researching grants using secondary databases, company websites, foundation center databases.
- Developing grant proposals that effectively communicate the organization's goals, objectives, and strategies to potential funders.
- Maintaining accurate records of grant submissions and outcomes.
- Compile data and record information in Salesforce, Jira or Spreadsheets.
- Attend Weekly team meetings: (Sundays 12pm EST)
Qualifications
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the organization.
- Strong research and writing skills, including the ability to develop compelling narratives that effectively communicate the organization's mission and goals.
- Familiarity with grant application processes and requirements.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Experience writing grants are preferred.
