Role: Sales and Local Tax Associate

Compensation: Competitive Basic Salary

Benefits: HMO plus 2 Free Dependents and PHP1,500 Rice Allowance
Work Schedule: 5-day work week, 6:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Philippine time
Work Setup: WFH

Responsibilities:

Assist state & local tax manager(s) with:

  • Preparation of multi-state corporate and passthrough entity income and franchise tax returns (with an emphasis on the latter).
  • Preparation of income and franchise tax estimated payments and extensions.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales & use tax returns.
  • Preparation of applications for voluntary disclosure and sales tax permits.
  • Preparation of nexus studies and exposure analysis.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience with a public accounting firm.
  • Familiarity with state & local tax concepts such as:
    • Nexus for income, sales & use tax purposes.
    • Allocation & apportionment for income tax purposes.
    • Unitary & non-unitary business classifications for income tax purposes.
    • Composite, nonresident withholding, and passthrough entity tax elections for income tax purposes.
    • Varying taxability of products for sales tax purposes.
    • Sourcing rules for sales tax purposes.
  • Intermediate skill in Microsoft Excel with the ability to process, format, and modify sales data into a workable format for tax return preparation.
  • Experience researching product and service taxability for sales tax purposes is a plus.
  • Experience with Thomson Reuters GoSystem Tax RS is a plus.
  • Experience with tax automation platforms (e.g., Avalara, Vertex, TaxJar) is a plus.
